How to Prevent Eye Strain
There are many reasons our eyes get tired, sore, dry and red eye such as watching television, playing video game, staring at computer screen, reading and exposure to air pollutants. In long run it weakens our eye strength. Some simple exercise, precautions and home remedies can relax, reduces your eye strain and improve your eye health
Eye Exercise:
1. Blinking: Do not forgot to blink your eyes while your work. If you will not blink your eye become dry
2. Palming: First take a deep breath and the rub your palm together to create a bit of heat, and then form your hands into cup shapes. Now, put you warm hands on your eyes (left hand on left eye and right hand on right eye). Inhale, exhale and relax for few minutes like this. Open your hand and go around your eyebrow. Then put your fingers down below your earlobes and gently massage. Make sure you are breathing whole time. Repeat this exercise two to three times in a day.
3. Use 20:20:20 rule on your work: look away from your computer screen reading after every 20 minutes. Gaze at a distant object at least 20 feet away, and finally do this for 20 seconds.
4. Eye Rolling: When you are reading or working on computer and your eyes tired. Then close your eyes for a minute and rotate your eye bolls around in circular motion. This is a massage of your eyes and it will ease the strain on the muscles.
5. Letter writing: Use your eye to write letters (bigger in size) on a distance wall but keep your head still.
6. Horizontal (side-to-side) and Vertical (Up-Down) Movement of Eyes (Saccades): Take two white pages and mark one circle on each. Keep these two pages 3-4 feet apart from side-to-side horizontally (see below) and 2-3 feet away from your eyes. Now keep your head still and focus on each circle one by one 10 times each. Practice three times in a day. Do the same thing by keeping the circle or any other object vertically.
7. Near – Far Saccades: Take a pencil, keep your head still and focus on it. Bring pencil towards you and touch your nose tip and then slowly move pencil far away from your nose. Keep watching pencil tip with your both eyes. Practice three times in a day.
