Herbal Skin Care Recipes For DIY Clear Skin

Have you ever found yourself looking through beauty and glamour magazines, thinking that even if you were a millionaire, you couldn't ever afford everything the editors recommend you buy for your skin? You don't need to whip out your wallet, but you may need to whip out some ingredients you've already got rolling around in the fridge.

Oatmeal
Instead of spending your money on expensive products from the mall or filling out your shopping cart at the drugstore, try some do-it-yourself herbal skin care recipes which are guaranteed to give you positive results. Products you buy over the counter can actually be more detrimental to your skin than beneficial. Even though they're tested on animals (or on actually people who agreed to sit as lab rats in exchange for pay), there are still chances that your skin will react to one of the many chemical ingredients found in over the counter face masks and treatments. You can take your chances, be extra careful and learn the meaning of every chemical, or you can just use natural ingredients. They're more beneficial and you will save a ton of money! Depending on your creativity level, you may even enjoy whipping up your own herbal skin care recipes once you get the hang of it. It's fairly simple, even for the laziest girly girls!

Recipe

For exfoliant:

  • ½ cup oatmeal

  • 1/3rd cup yogurt

Herbal skin care recipe

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon crumbled dried chamomile flowers

Directions:

Start out by mixing together the oatmeal and yogurt. Apply to face and use as a gentle scrub to exfoliate dead skin cells. Mix the remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Apply the mixture to your face and your neck and massage into the tissues. Let dry for about ten to fifteen minutes and then rinse off with warm water.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal works as a gentle exfoliant, gently scrubbing away dead skin cells and leaving behind a layer of fresh skin. You can use store bought exfoliants but they may be too rough for many people, sometimes even causing minor scarring and pockmarks. Oatmeal also hydrates skin and leaves it smoother and glowing.

Yogurt

Yogurt contains lactic acid, which soothes the skin, reduces wrinkles, and hydrates the skin, making it softer. It also helps reduce sunburn.

Honey

Honey fights sun damage and minor skin irritations. It helps soothe sunburn and makes skin softer. It contains antimicrobial agents which help skin heal. It is not an herbal ingredient, but ingredients like egg, honey, oatmeal, and yogurt make essential additions to herbal skin care recipes because they work wonders in soothing and healing skin, giving you a fresh dewy face.

Egg

Egg whites help tighten the skin, giving you a mini-facelift at home. They help reduce pores and heal acne.

Chamomile

Chamomile is our a great herbal ingredient for all herbal skin care recipes because it helps ease headaches, and soothes the mental, easing stress which indirectly contributes to healthier skin. Did you know that many break-outs are stress related? Chamomile also helps fight infections because of its microbial agents.
