Make your own home remedy for dry skin using any of the following options.
Dry skin affects almost everyone during their lives, particularly during harsh winters. More unsightly than dangerous, dry skin can be a result of nutritional deficiencies, low humidity or skin problems and shows as flaky, cracked skin that is rough to the touch. Contrary to popular belief, dandruff is not a sign of bad hygiene but the manifestation of dry skin on the scalp. Both problems can be treated without having to splurge on expensive lotions and shampoos. Make your own home remedy for dry skin using any of the following options.
Oatmeal
Ordinary instant oatmeal can come in handy if you have dry skin you're dying to get rid of. Oatmeal is packed with vitamin E, which will soothe and replenish your skin. Fill up your bath with warm water and add 1-2 cups of instant oatmeal. Swirl the water around until it turns milky and soak in the bath for as long as you like. When washing your hands, rub them with some wet oatmeal instead of soap to exfoliate them, dry with a towel and then rub them with dry oatmeal once more. This is a great home remedy for dry skin that comes straight from your kitchen shelf!
Eggs
Eggs are filled with proteins and vitamins which help rejuvenate dried skin, as well as eliminate dandruff from the scalp. Make a face pack by dabbing an egg yolk on your face and leaving it on for 15 minutes. Do this daily until your face looks fresher. To get rid of dandruff, beat two eggs and add two tablespoons of water to the mixture. Wet your hair and then apply this mixture to your hair and scalp, massaging it in. Keep it on for 15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. This is a great dandruff remedy that also minimizes hair-fall and breakage by protecting your hair with protein.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This variety of vinegar is available at supermarkets and is used in a lot of foods. It also has a number of health benefits because of its ability to stimulate blood circulation, combat viruses and bacteria and break down fatty deposits on the skin, which sometimes lead to dandruff. To make an effective dandruff remedy, add one part vinegar to three parts water and gently massage into your scalp with a circular motion. Leave this on for an hour before rinsing it off with mild shampoo. Repeat this once or twice weekly to keep the dandruff at bay. To heal chapped hands, apply vinegar and then go to bed wearing a pair of soft gloves. This will allow the vinegar to be absorbed into the skin, improving blood flow and skin regeneration.
Avocado
As a common ingredient in many moisturizers and lotions, avocado is popular because of its moistening and replenishing properties. To use avocado in a home remedy for dry skin, add a few drops of lemon juice to half a mashed avocado, and then apply this paste over the dry skin. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes and then rinse it off by alternating between hot and cold water.
