Make your own flatulence home remedy using common items from the kitchen and you can quickly feel comfortable in crowded areas again!
At some point in your life, you will have been affected by flatulence and looked for a way to get rid of it as soon as possible. Although socially problematic, flatulence affects everybody and the average person can produce anywhere between 6 and 64 ounces of gas (or flatus) each day. Caused by swallowing air during talking or eating, as well as the breakdown and fermentation of foods in your stomach by bacteria, some foods can aggravate flatulence and create a more offensive odor than others. Some people may be more prone to flatulence, such as those with food allergies, intestinal problems, a family history of flatulence or anybody that often eats flatulogenic foods such as beans, cabbage, prunes and bananas. Fortunately, you can avoid potential embarrassment in crowded areas with a flatulence remedy made right at home.
Caraway
Caraway seeds and oils are natural carminatives which get rid of gas. Eat some caraway crackers after a meal filled with gas-inducing foods to help the digestive process. You can also use caraway seeds in recipes for bread and entrees to help include them in meals or as a flatulence home remedy. Caraway seeds are available at most supermarkets in the herbs & spices aisle. Caraway crackers are also commonly available in supermarkets.
Coriander
This herb helps the movement of food during digestion and can help easing cramps, hiccups, flatulence and bloating. You can purchase coriander seeds in the herbs & spices section at your supermarket, crush them and add them to food for a subtle flavoring. The fresh leaves, available for less than a dollar in the produce section of your supermarket, also work as a great garnish for curries and Middle Eastern dishes, making coriander a great flatulence remedy.
Ginger
Ginger is a very versatile thing to have in the household because of its many uses, one of which is relieving the buildup of gas. Use ginger in one or more of the following ways as a flatulence home remedy:
- Add half a teaspoon of ginger powder and a pinch of rock salt to a glass of warm water. Drink this mixture before bedtime to help get rid of flatulence.
- Chew on fresh ginger slices soaked in lime juice after meals.
- Add some ginger powder to warmed olive or sesame oil and massage over the abdomen.
- Steep half a teaspoon of fresh grated ginger in one cup of boiling water. Add honey or lemon and drink up to three times a day.
- Remove the gas-producing elements of dry beans by soaking them in cold water and adding a teaspoon of ginger powder. Boil the beans in the ginger water and then drain. Let them sit for an hour and then cook as normal.
Yoghurt
Include unsweetened yoghurt in your daily diet, preferably after your dinner. This is a simple and effective flatulence remedy that will help you control the gas problem.
Bay Leaves
Make a herbal tea using bay leaves for get rid of your flatulence problem. Simply boil 4-5 bay leaves in 2 cups of water. When only once cup water remains, remove from heat and stain the tea. Drink this 2-3 times in a day or after your dinner and you will feel light.
Baking Soda
Baking soda has hundreds of uses around the house, mainly for cleaning things. However, it is a great flatulence remedy too because of its ability to break down gas. Add a little bit of baking soda to a glass of warm water and squeeze some fresh lemon juice into this mixture. Add a pinch of salt and drink this solution to get rid of odorous gas. You can also take one teaspoon of baking soda followed by a few sips of any carbonated drink to release any gas buildup.
