Appam and Green Peas Curry:
It is a traditional and famous delicious south Indian breakfast. It has to be served with some type of either vegetarian curry like green peas, potato, or nonveg egg or chicken curry etc. Here, we have described the ingredients and preparation method of appam and green peas curry in this article. Required Ingredients for Appam:
White Rice: 2 cups
Water as required
Boiled Rice: 1/2 cups
Baker Yeast: 1/5th of a teaspoon
Grated Coconut: 1 cups
Salt: As per taste
Preparation:
Mixture 1: Its preparation has to be started the previous morning (24 hour before) of the day to be cooked and served. In the first morning, take one cup of white rice, washed with water and soaked into water for 2 - 3 hour. After that grind it in the mixer grinder and add sufficient amount of water (may be less than a cup of water) to make a paste.
Mixture 2: For mixture 2, take the grated coconut, one cup boiled rice and yeast adding required amount of water (may be less than half a cup) and grind in the mixer.
Mix the above two mixtures (1 and 2) very well and add salt according to your taste.
In the next day morning the mixed solutions are ready for cooking appam.
Take a nonstick pan which can be used as appam pan and keep it on the stove to get heated. When get heated put two big spoon of mixture in the pan and immediately rotate it so as the solution to get spread all over the pan. Now close the pan with lid and wait for 2/3 minutes for the appam to get puffed. With the help of wooden stick slowly take out the appam from pan. Now appam is ready.
Green Peas Curry There are so many methods to cook green peas curry, lets cook one of them here.
Required ingredients: Four pieces of onion (big) and four green chilies to be cut in small pieces, take one glass of coconut milk, tomato. Garam masala (mixture of spices or curry spices) half table spoon, red chili powder – two spoon (optional), dry chilly two of them.
Cooking:
1. First boil the green peas in the water and remove the water.
2. Put the cooking vessel into stove in a medium flame. When it get hot put four table spoon of cooking oil, when oil get heated put some mustard seeds in it and let it get roasted. Then add fine cut onions and green chilies and stir it well for some time till becomes brownish /yellowish color.
3. Add dry chilly and required amount of salt and continue stirring the mixture for few minutes and add coconut milk to it. When this gets boiled add boiled green peas to it. let it boil for some time then add garam masala and wait for four to five more minutes let it boiled and all get mixed. Now the Green Pease curry is ready. And it is ready to enjoy with appam.
